Brit + Beau Got Engaged… Tonight!

Last week Beau let me in on some news. He was planning to propose to Brit at the end of our church’s marriage enrichment event the next Monday (tonight). They were attending because marriage and engagement were on the radar and wanted a head start. I applaud them for that.

So ideas started flying around between Beau, me, and other SSCC staff members. The idea was for Beau and Brit to be called up on stage to tell the audience what they got out of the event. Another one of those ideas included me photographing it as it happened and Amanda videoing it.

We were set up and ready for them to be called up. It felt like an eternity. The video was set up to broadcast live so that their families (who live out of town) could watch online. In total, we saw 52 computers watching. Many of those had multiple people watching.

Well, true to the plan, they got called up. Beau answered the question with “because I want to spend the rest of my life with her” (paraphrased) and got down on one knee. She said yes! Then some of our pastors and leaders joined them on stage to pray for them as they begin their journey toward marriage. One of the people in attendance even got them a reservation at Halyards to celebrate! We followed for a couple pictures.

Cathedral of St. John the Baptist – A Savannah Wedding

“I get to photograph a wedding here?”, I asked myself as I entered the most beautiful church I had ever been in. The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Savannah, GA blew me away as I entered to take a look around before the wedding. I may have looked like a kid at Disney World as I’m sure I had a look of awe on my face.

Though the images from that wedding aren’t ready to release yet, I still wanted to show these images off. After I told so many people about it I figured I needed to post some images before my friends and readers got too restless.

Easter at St. Simons Community Church

Wow. Easter was amazing at St. Simons Community Church last Sunday. I had the joy of photographing it.

Music was top-notch and the message was right on spot. The message was about letting Jesus break us free from the fears that hold us hostage. You’ll see the set is a dungeon. Jesus wants to set us free.

St. Mark’s Sanctuary

Hey guys. Just wanted to share this photo we got last month. During a recent outing with the local photographer meetup group we spent some time inside St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in downtown Brunswick, GA. It was a really fun time getting to hang out with and shoot with other photographers in the area.

This was the one shot I knew I wasn’t leaving there without. I think it turned out well.

Jingle Jam at SSCC

Near Christmas our children’s department at St. Simons Community Church did a live acting version of A Charlie Brown Christmas with all the characters! The event was called Jingle Jam and they had standing room only at both services. I covered the event and had so much fun!

Christmas Eve at St. Simons Community Church

St. Simons Community Church has a candlelight Christmas Eve service each year. This year was my first and it was beautiful. If only you could have been there to experience a thousand people standing there with candles as the only light source singing Christmas songs. It was amazing.

TJ and Kim’s Wedding

TJ and Kim had a beautiful wedding at Family Life Church with a wedding reception at one of my favorite locations in Brunswick, the Glynn County historic courthouse. Start to finish it was a fun and rewarding day.
