St Simons Island Engagement Session – Katie & Dino

Friday, May 21st, 2010

Katie and Dino invited us to spend a couple hours with them on St. Simons Island to get some engagement photos before they tie the knot next month. You might have seen Katie before on our blog, but as a bridesmaid and sister to Stephanie, our first bride of 2010.

As we were driving to meet Katie and Dino it started pouring rain. I had already said earlier that day that rain or shine I was doing this engagement session and came ready with rainsleeves for our cameras. I thought I was about to have to use them when the sun rejoined the party and then the couple showed up. We had clear weather the rest of the time with only a slight mist of rain that lasted only a couple minutes.

Our time together began at the Avenue of Oaks where you’ll see the tangled vines picture below. From there we headed to the pier and village area where we had to be creative with backgrounds because most of it was under construction. When it started to mist (which is neither good for hair or camera equipment) I looked for a place to get out of the rain I thought was coming. Zuzu’s was it. What happened next blew my mind. I bought them a cone of mint chocolate chip ice cream and said “ignore me” as I stepped outside. You can see for yourself below but the images we got were just bathed in love and emotion. We like all of the images we got… but the ice cream pictures… we LOVE!

It all goes to show you that sometime the photographer shouldn’t influence the couple at all, except if that influence included ice cream. :)

Enjoy.

Jimmy VanBoxel of Uberzoot Salon

Friday, March 12th, 2010

Uberzoot is seriously the premier salon in the area. Never have Amanda and I had such a great salon experience. Jimmy, the owner and stylist of Uberzoot, is an amazing person to work with both as a stylist and client. Our first shoot with his kids that we blogged about before was so completely fun. This time was for Jimmy personally. We’re updating his profile images for some web and print needs coming up. Enjoy.

Free Family Photo Shoot Winners

Friday, February 5th, 2010

Today at 3:23pm | Edit Note | Delete
For the past couple weeks we’ve been collecting stories from people here about their families and why family photos are so important to them. There have been some really great submissions and today we had to make the decision on who should win the free family photo shoot. It was so hard to choose just one that we actually decided to award two families with a free shoot!

The winners are Hannah Howard and Rhonda Gillis, who we chose because at the core of their stories was the love in their family and a desire to preserve the memories of their families. Rhonda and Hannah, we’re giving you both 1-hour photo sessions on location anywhere in the local area. Contact us for details.

We thank everyone else for sharing your stories with us. Even though we couldn’t give you all the free family photo session, we hope we’ll get to do family photos for you sometime this year.
