Ice cream makes every session more fun.

When I asked them “What’s something you guys do together?”, their response was “Angry Birds!”.

After a wonderful evening with their friends and family, we finished the day at the St. Simons Island pier village area with some fun sunset photos.

Neptune Park, St. Simons Island

We began our time with Shannon at her parents’ house in Brunswick to capture the moments with her family and friends. The ceremony was at St. WIlliams Catholic Church on St. Simons followed by a trolley ride for the wedding party and a 1930′s classic Cadillac car ride for the newlyweds. The reception was at the AW Jones Heritage Center at the Lighthouse.

Their wedding day began at Epworth by the Sea. It’s always great to photograph there. They were married in Lovely Lane Chapel – always a favorite place to photograph. Afterward we joined them for a fun reception at Sea Palms. The jazz band they had play was incredible.

Their wedding was on the marsh overlooking Sea Island. It was a perfect day. Bright blue sky and a nice breeze.

It was great to be a dual guest/photographer. I got the best of both worlds!

Both Jennine and Nick were so fun to be around. Even though we were the photographers they treated us like friends. This relationship made photographing them such a fun time for us.

It was a blast guys!

The reception was held at the St Simons Island Casino (where there is interestingly no gambling ever). We quickly found out how much fun these families like to have. The DJ, Island Sound, kept great dancing music flowing all night which the guests loved. (and we did too!)

Chelsea and Malachi said their vows in Neptune Park by the St Simons Island Pier Village in the company of their closest friends and some passers by. It was funny to see people walking along and stopping to watch the wedding. I think these unofficial guests outnumbered the invited guests at one point. :)

The ceremony was set with natural wood chairs on the lawn leading up to a large Cedar overlooking the Atlantic Ocean where they were wed. Since no back doors existed for Chelsea to enter from, her dad made them for her. Over the course of planning this wedding I would hear about the many things that were hand made. Tables were made from old doors. Windows were turned to picture frames. Mason jars became flower pots. A lemonade stand was built. A couple crates formed the base for the coffee bar provided by Wake Up Coffee.

I think they only things that weren’t DIY at the wedding were the chairs. Seriously.

When you take creativity of that magnitude, a couple that adores each other, and a super-fun set of guests – you’ve got some magic.

The reception was held at the St Simons Island Casino (which is odd to be calledthat since there is no gambling there). It really is a great reception venue due to the large open areas and the view of the water. I was floored by the creativity of how they decorated the place. The theme was rustic – old wood, burlap, mason jars, picnic tables, candle light. Such a different approach to the typical coastal wedding and I LOVED IT.

Anyway, now to the pictures. I hope you enjoy the one at the end where Justin from Island Sound (the DJ) and I joined in on the dancing. :)

One thing we really liked is that they were up for anything including tromping through grass, climbing trees, and walking up sketchy staircases in back alleys. These images just make us that much more excited to photograph their wedding!

As we were driving to meet Katie and Dino it started pouring rain. I had already said earlier that day that rain or shine I was doing this engagement session and came ready with rainsleeves for our cameras. I thought I was about to have to use them when the sun rejoined the party and then the couple showed up. We had clear weather the rest of the time with only a slight mist of rain that lasted only a couple minutes.

Our time together began at the Avenue of Oaks where you’ll see the tangled vines picture below. From there we headed to the pier and village area where we had to be creative with backgrounds because most of it was under construction. When it started to mist (which is neither good for hair or camera equipment) I looked for a place to get out of the rain I thought was coming. Zuzu’s was it. What happened next blew my mind. I bought them a cone of mint chocolate chip ice cream and said “ignore me” as I stepped outside. You can see for yourself below but the images we got were just bathed in love and emotion. We like all of the images we got… but the ice cream pictures… we LOVE!

It all goes to show you that sometime the photographer shouldn’t influence the couple at all, except if that influence included ice cream. :)

The wedding was held at the Itylldoo House on St Simons Island, right on the beach! The house is beautiful inside and out. It’s the best wedding preparation/ceremony/reception venue we have been to in our opinion. The ceremony was held on the deck overlooking the river between St Simons and Jekyll. The reception was held on the lawn closer the house. The portraits were done on a trolley, at the Avenue of Oaks, on the beach by the lighthouse, and on location at the house.

They got married at the beautiful Lovely Lane Chapel at Epworth by the Sea. It was a quick ceremony and we had to work fast. From there we jumped on a Trolley and headed to the Casino in the St. Simons Island Village with a brief stop on the beach. We arrived and the reception was already jumping. It was great to work with Island Sound for the first time and they did a great job. It was the most dancing we’ve seen in a while. I loved being a part of the fun!
